Enrolment procedure

Enrolment Policy - St Patrick’s School

The Board of Trustees of Saint Patrick’s Greymouth, shall ensure  enrolments comply with the requirements specified in the Integration Agreement and Private Schools Conditional Integration act 1975. The Special Character of Saint Patrick’s Greymouth will be up held in all decisions.  Saint Patrick’s School is the parish Primary School of the Catholic  Parish of Greymouth.

Submitting an application for enrolment at Saint Patrick’s School is not a guarantee of acceptance.

All students will need to obtain a Preference Certificate from the Priest of the Catholic Parish of Greymouh, subject to parents and caregivers accepting and agreeing to the conditions stated on the Preference Certificate.  Pre-enrolments at the school may be made prior to obtaining a Preference Certificate.  However, acceptance for enrolment at the school is conditional on the issuing of a Preference Certificate.

Enrolment Priority

Preference applicants will be accepted ahead of non preference students.

1. First priority will be given to preference students who live in the Catholic Parish of Greymouth.(which includes, Ngahere, Kumara, Cobden and Runanga)

2. Second priority will be given to siblings of current preference students attending St Patrick’s school.

3. Third priority will be given to siblings of current preference students attending JohnPaul ll High School.

4. Fourth priority will be given to those preference applicants who are children of Saint Patrick’s Board of Trustees and permanent employees.

5. Fifth priority will be given to preference applicants who are siblings of former students of Saint Patrick’s .

6. Sixth priority will be given to preference students who belong to another parish where there is no parish school.

7. Seventh  priority will be given to non-preference students. 

 If there are more non-preference applicants than places available, the following sub-priorities will operate.

1. those who are siblings of non-preference students attending Saint Patrick’s Greymouth

2. non preference applicants who are children of Saint Patrick’s School Board of Trustees and permanent employees

Should there be more applicants in one priority group than there are places available, places will be allocated according to the date of pre-enrolment application.

If a number of applicants are at the same level of priority those to be enrolled will be decided by ballot.

Timeline 

• All applications for enrolment must be received by the last Monday of November of the preceding year 

• A letter of offer will be sent out to all to all successful applicants by the last Friday of November  

• Parents/caregivers of successful applicants must accept the place offered within 10 days of the letter being sent or their place will be offered to the next applicant on the list.

The Board of Trustees delegates the authority to administer this scheme to the Principal.
